LEGO Mosaic: "MIT InvenTeams"

The InvenTeams project started with a phone call from MIT one day in June. The Lemelson-MIT Program recognizes outstanding inventors, encourages sustainable new solutions to real-world problems, and enables and inspires young people to pursue creative lives and careers through invention.
Their upcoming Odyssey week is scheduled to feature inventors from high schools all over the country. We arranged to have hundreds of extra blue LEGO bricks available so that they could enclose a few bricks in each invitation to the Odyssey. To kick-off the event, each invitee will bring their LEGO bricks to the Odyssey with them.
As the week continues, the guests will add to the blue InvenTeams logo, making it more 3-dimensional. This "brushed star" design was fun to make, because it was so simple in concept, yet challenging to design. Making angled squares appear to be "brushed on" proved a challenge.
InvenTeams is funded by The Lemelson Foundation and administered at MIT. Learn all about the program on the InvenTeams web site.
Contact us if we can help bring your audience together with a fun LEGO mosaic like we did with Lemelson-MIT.
