LEGO Mosaic: "Dapper Logo"
Click for larger version.
The Dapper project was born on a phone call from Israel one day. I was asked to construct a LEGO mosaic using Dapper's logo that somehow described their product. We collaborated on the design and ultimately came up with the one shown here, their logo surrounded by "favicons" of various web sites.
I ran into several challenges with this LEGO mosaic project. The first obstacle was the extremely tight deadline. Parts had already been ordered and shipped while we were still finalizing the design concept. When the build began, I had a week to complete the LEGO mosaic and ship it to California. I had lots of help from the Brickworkz "Helperz." They pulled through and helped me reach the deadline and were just a pleasure to have over.
Another obstacle was the shipping crate- I wanted the Lego mosaic to get to its destination as securely as possible, and considering the weight and dimensions, knew that freight shipping was my only option. I assembled a crate, having never built one before. It was grueling.
The project shipped out on Tuesday for delivery in California the following Monday, just in time for the Web 2.0 Conference. This was the biggest, most colorful, tightest deadline project in Brickworkz history, and I was proud to be able to pull it off.
This project was documented with photos and blog entries on the Dapper clients page, so be sure to check it out! Also, the "making-of" video is below. Click the play button to view.
